Cameron Norrie of Great Britain has made an early exit in the last two Grand Slam events in Paris and Wimbledon, but the 29th seed should be seen to better effect when he takes on Luca Van Assche of France in the first round of the US Open.
Norrie has reached at least the third round on his last three visits to the US Open and has been in strong form on hard courts this year.

Bet Builder - Cameron Norrie to win first set 6-3 or 6-4, Luca Van Assche to win a set, Under 0.5 tiebreaks in match @ 10/1
Best Bet: Cameron Norrie -3.5 games on match handicap @ 4/5
Considering he is a seeded player, Great Britain's Cameron Norrie might have hoped for a slightly easier first-round opponent at Flushing Meadows than improving young French player Luca Van Assche, but the favourite should still come through relatively comfortably.
Van Assche is currently ranked only five places below Norrie in the ATP list, at 40th compared to Norrie's 35th, but that is his highest ever mark, while Norrie was a top-10 player in 2022.
Norrie has had no recent problems at this stage in the New York event, though, as he made the fourth round in 2022 and the third round in his two more recent visits in 2023 and 2025.
Van Assche went out in the first round of the tournament in 2023 and has exited in the second qualifying round in each of the last two seasons.
Norrie also has a clear advantage in the players' previous meetings, leading 3-0 in their clashes on the ATP Tour, although Van Assche came out on top when they faced each other in a Challenger Tour event in 2024.
Their only previous Grand Slam meeting saw Norrie win in straight sets in the 2023 Australian Open (7-6 6-0 6-3), but Van Assche has taken a set in their two more recent meetings in Auckland and Metz.
Norrie has won seven and five games more than his opponent in those latest clashes, which were both on hard courts, and he can win by at least four on the games handicap in New York.
Alternative Bet: Cameron Norrie to win 3-1 @ 13/5
Van Assche has been in mixed recent form, winning his first ATP title on clay in Estoril last month but going out in his first match in Montreal to compatriot Titouan Droguet when switching to a hard surface.
He also made an early exit in Cincinnati, but then won the Quebec Challenger event for his fourth success at that level this season.
After another quick departure to Aleksander Kovacevic at Winston-Salem back at ATP level, he seems unlikely to upset Norrie, but he looks capable of pinching one set, as he has done in the last two ATP meetings.
Norrie has won the first set in all four of his career meetings with Van Assche, and three of them have been by scores of 6-1, 6-3 and 6-3, so taking him to win the opening stanza 6-3 or 6-4 in New York appeals.
Van Assche has not rolled over in their recent clashes, winning the second set in their last two ATP meetings and beating Norrie in their Challenger Tour match, so take the Frenchman to avoid a straight-sets loss.
There have been only two tiebreaks in the 12 sets contested by the players overall and nine of them have lasted no more than nine games, so backing there to be no tiebreaks in the match can boost the odds of our bet builder.
