There is little doubt that Lorenzo Musetti has not been at his best for the majority of 2026.
The former world number five has dropped to 14th in the ATP rankings and is seeded 13th at the US Open, with world number one Jannik Sinner absent.

True, Fery's victims in Cincy and Winston-Salem weren't special talents, but the Wimbledon resident is still learning on hard courts and, with question marks over Musetti right now, the outsider has a genuine chance to make this competitive.
