Swansea stalwart set to end 19-year stay amid Leicester talks

Leicester are in talks to sign Wales international Liam Cullen from Swansea, reports suggest.

The 27-year-old attacking midfielder joined the Swans academy all the way back in 2007 and has made more than 200 appearances for his boyhood club.

He has also been capped 15 times for Wales, making his debut in a friendly win over Gibraltar in 2023 and bagged both of his international goals in a Nations League success over Iceland one year later.

Cullen played under Russell Martin for two seasons in South Wales and now -- according to BBC Sport -- is set to reunite with his old boss at Leicester City.

The Foxes have turned to Martin after suffering back-to-back relegations, dropping from the Premier League down to League One in two seasons. Formerly of Southampton and Rangers, Martin replaces Gary Rowett in the dugout after his short stay at the King Power Stadium came to an end.

Leicester are assembling a strong squad for the level and Cullen will bolster their options going forward, offering another alternative alongside Jamaica international Bobby De Cordova-Reid who is already at the club.

Although the likes of Abdul Fatawu and Jeremy Monga have left the this summer, they have been able to bring in vital experience with Alex McCarthy and Conor Chaplin arriving to aide the promotion push.

Cullen looks like another shrewd acquisition if Leicester are to justify odds of 4/5 to achieve promotion at the first time of asking.
