Southampton recorded their first league win over Portsmouth for 22 years with a hard-fought 1-0 victory at St Mary's on Sunday afternoon.
Saints went ahead of 20 minutes when Finn Azaz clipped a wonderful ball in behind to find James Bree who showed all the composure of a centre-forward to find the bottom corner.
While Tonda Eckart's men were the better side for much of the half, their task was made considerably more difficult when Cameron Bragg hauled Ebou Adams to the ground to receive a second yellow card shortly before the interval.
Despite the visitors pressing the issue in the second half, Pompey lacked the quality to make their man advantage pay, with Saints holding on for a priceless three points.
