Southampton striker Cyle Larin celebrated his permanent deal with a crucial goal for Canada at the 2026 World Cup.
The World Cup co-hosts were up against Bosnia-Herzegovina in their tournament opener on Friday evening.
Canada looked set for a disappointing evening as they found themselves a goal down following Jovo Lukic's first-half goal.
But Larin stepped off the bench in the 77th minute and he quickly introduced himself to the world stage.
The 31-year-old received the ball on the edge of the penalty area within two minutes of his arrival and he expertly turned before firing the ball into the bottom left-hand corner.
It was the 31st international goal of Larin's career in his 91st appearance and a golden moment for Canadian football.
The 31-year-old will have been disappointed to have been left out of the starting line-up but his vital equaliser has now given Jesse Marsch's side a foothold in the tournament.
Canada will now move onto their second Group B fixture against Qatar on Thursday with renewed optimism after rescuing a 1-1 draw.
It completes a fantastic few days for Larin after he completed his permanent move to Southampton last week.
Larin has joined on a permanent basis from Real Mallorca and he scored eight goals in 16 Championship appearances last season.
