South Africa v England Odds: World champions heavily favoured

England get their 2026 World Rugby Nations Championship campaign underway at the home of World champions South Africa on Saturday evening.

Steve Borthwick's side will still be reeling from their dismal showing at the 2026 Six Nations, which saw them finish fifth in the table, as they look for redemption at the all-new World Rugby Nations Championship.

Standing in their way of an immediate return to winning ways are the back-to-back World Cup and Rugby Championship winners South Africa. So an easy one then!

While the Springboks have not been their usual imperious selves in recent Tests, there's no doubting that they are comfortably the best side in World Rugby at present and it will be an uphill battle for England to get anything out of this fixture.

With all that in mind, let's take a look at what the odds suggest for South Africa v England this weekend.

South Africa v England Odds

With the recent form of both sides, mixed with the home advantage being with the World champs, it is no surprise that South Africa are extremely heavily favoured for this one, priced at 1/9 on to win the match.

England are available at a price of 11/2 to win in South Africa for the first time since a dead rubber Test match in 2018, while a draw is 33/1, at the time of writing.

Such is the expected disparity between the two sides, the handicap market is set at +/-15.5 points, with an away win available for 4/5 and a home win priced at 1/1.

Given South Africa's expected dominance, it is of little shock that the six shortest first try scorers are all Springboks, with Cheslin Kolbe and Kurt-Lee Arendse both priced at 9/1.

Should England stand any chance of getting anything out of the match, they will need to start quickly, with Immanuel Feyi-Waboso - priced at 16/1 - the shortest member of Borthwick's side in the first tryscorer market.
