Sheffield United set to swoop for former Nottingham Forest hero

Sheffield United are attempting to complete the loan signing of Joe Worrall from Championship rivals Burnley.

Journalist Ben Jacobs has reported that the Blades are working on a deal, which is expected to be a season-long loan move.

It is claimed that talks will continue to take place over the next few days as United look to secure the signature of the 29-year-old.

Worrall's time at Turf Moor has been plagued by injuries since his arrival in the summer of 2024.

He has made just 27 appearances for the club and his fitness issues have meant that he has been unable to sustain a place in the first-team.

It was with boyhood club Nottingham Forest where Worrall made his name across the best part of a decade.

Worrall featured over 200 times for the club and he was the captain as Forest beat Huddersfield Town to win promotion to the Premier League in 2022.

He then captained Forest as they preserved their top-flight status in the following campaign.

If he can stay fit, Worrall could prove to be a shrewd signing for the Blades as they look to improve on last season's mid-table finish.
