Watford star could be set for big-money European move

Watford winger Othmane Maamma is the subject of interest from clubs in Europe ahead of next week's transfer deadline.

French news outlet L'Equipe have reported that Bologna and FC Porto are currently leading the race to sign the player.

It is claimed that a transfer fee of €10 million could be required to secure Maamma's signature.

Premier League sides Everton and Crystal Palace were mooted as potential destinations earlier in the summer, but it now seems that any move will be to a club outside of England.

Championship

Maamma arrived at Vicarage Road from Montpellier last summer on a four-year deal.

The 20-year-old showed plenty of promise in his first season in the Championship as he featured 17 times, scoring three goals.

His performances also led to the player making his debut for the senior Morocco team earlier this year.

Whilst they are still looking to bring players in over the next few days, Watford's hierarchy will be bracing themselves for offers.

The Hornets have made a solid start to the new season under new head coach Alessio Dionisi and they are back in action on Saturday afternoon when they host West Ham United.
