Sheffield United are reportedly exploring a move to sign winger Rabbi Matondo from Norwegian side SK Brann.
Matondo has been told that he is free to leave the club after making just three appearances in Norway.
The Welsh international only arrived at Brann in March but he has struggled to adapt to his new surroundings.
Norwegian news outlet Bergensavisen have reported that the player is attracting interest, with Sheffield United particularly keen on signing the winger.
Matondo had a big reputation early in his career, particularly after he left Manchester City as a youngster to join Schalke in an £11 million deal.
He made 30 appearances in the Bundesliga before eventually joining Rangers in the summer of 2022 following loan spells at Stoke City and Cercle Brugge.
The 25-year-old was unable to nail down a first-team place at Ibrox during his three seasons at the club and his career has now stalled.
Sheffield United are in the market for another winger after signing Romelle Donovan on loan and the club could provide the right environment for Matondo to turn his career around.
Chris Wilder's side are expected to challenge for the play-offs as a minimum requirement this season following an underwhelming 2025/26 campaign.
