The Shanghai Masters is one of the most popular stops on the ATP Tour and a coveted Masters 1000 event.
Staged on the outdoor hard courts at the Qizhong Forest Sports City Arena, the tournament was officially established in 2009 and is the flagship of the Asian swing in the ATP calendar.
Novak Djokovic holds the record for the most titles in Shanghai with four, and only the Serbian and Andy Murray have ever gone back-to-back in the event.
Murray ranks one behind Djokovic with three Shanghai Masters titles, one more than Roger Federer, who won his last in 2017.
Valentin Vacherot made history at the tournament in 2025 as he the lowest ranked player to win a Masters 1000 event. The Monegasque qualifier entered the Shanghai Masters ranked 204th in the world before defeating the likes of Holger Rune, Djokovic and his cousin Arthur Rinderknech in the final to ascend into the top 30.
The prestigious Shanghai Masters, sponsored by Rolex, announced a prize money total of $9,415,725 (USD) for the 2026 edition.
The winner will receive $1,151,380, which is an increase of $27,000 compared to the previous year.
The doubles team that wins in 2026 will split $468,200, which is $11,050 more than what Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz received for landing the doubles crown in 2025.
