Scott McTominay is favourite to finish as Scotland's top goalscorer at the 2026 World Cup.
The former Manchester United man has grown into Scotland's most important player in the last few years, with only Karry Kane, Kylian Mbappe, Romelu Lukaku and Cristiano Ronaldo outscoring the 28-year-old in qualifying for Euro 2024. McTominay was then Scotland's only goalscorer at the tournament, and was tied with Che Adams and Ryan Christie for the most Scotland goals in World Cup qualification.
It would appear Scotland's World Cup hopes hinge on getting a positive result against Haiti with tougher tests against Brazil and Morocco to come, but one win may well be enough to secure a place in the round of 32.
Penalties will be a big factor in deciding many teams' top goalscorer this summer, and McTominay will likely be amongst the first in line should a spot kick be awarded. McTominay took the third penalty in Scotland's two penalty shoot-outs for Euro 2020 qualifying, and though it's been nearly four years since Steve Clarke's side were last awarded a penalty.
That came against the Republic of Ireland back in 2022, when Ryan Christie stepped up, though it's worth considering John McGinn stepped up first in Scotland's shoot-out victory over Israel in 2020.
Lawrence Shankland is second favourite on the back of a 16-goal season for Hearts, with Che Adams and McGinn also prominent in the betting.
