Chris Ashton is the only player to have reached the century mark of tries in the Premiership, achieving this feat in April 2023 when scoring a hat-trick against Exeter Chiefs to take his career total to 101.
Ashton also crossed the whitewash 20 times for England, leaving him ninth on the all-time tryscorer list for his country, and his famous ‘swallow dive’ celebration, nicknamed the ‘Ash Splash’, will forever be remembered on both the domestic and international stage.
Second on the list is Tom Varndell, who scored 92 tries across spells with Leicester, Wasps, Bristol, while one-club man Mark Cueto registered 90 tries with Sale.
The first active player on the list is Christian Wade, who played for Wasps from 2011-2018 before then changing careers to go and play in the NFL. He returned to rugby union with Racing 92 from 2022-2024 before heading back to the Premiership this season with Gloucester.
Wade has scored four tries this term, taking him level on 85 tries with another active player in Danny Care, who is yet to add to his account this season for Harlequins.
Jonny May comes next with 78 tries, three ahead of Matt Banahan and the third and final active player in this top-10 list, Mike Brown.
Former England international Brown is 39 years of age and he has failed to add to his try tally in the current campaign.
Rounding off the list with 69 tries is Paul Sackey, who played for Bedford, London Irish, Wasps and Harlequins from 1999-2014. He was also a key player for England at the 2007 Rugby World Cup, where he scored four tries and played the entire final.
