The Premiership was launched in 1987 as the top division of English rugby union.
Since then, the competition has undergone a number of different rebrands and is currently known as the Gallagher PREM - for sponsorship reasons - or PREM Rugby.
A total of nine teams have lifted the Gallagher Prem trophy since the competition's inception, with seven teams having won multiple titles.

*Between 1987 and 2002, there were no play-offs or Grand Final, with the team finishing top of the table crowned champions.
Leicester Tigers won the inaugural title, beating Wasps to the title, before Bath Rugby won five of the next six titles.
Play-offs were introduced in the 2002/03 season, following a period which saw Leicester Tigers win four titles in a row between 1998 and 2002.
Wasps won four subsequent six titles, taking full advantage of the new play-off system, before Leicester reclaimed their crown in three of the next five seasons.
The 2012/13 final saw Leicester make their ninth consecutive appearance at a final, before going nine years without one.
Saracens dominated the late 2010s, winning four of the five seasons between 2014/15 and 2018/19, with Exeter picking up titles in 2016/17 and 2019/20.
The last six seasons have seen six different winners lift the Gallagher Prem trophy, with Harlequins, Leicester, Saracens, Northampton and Bath all getting their hands on the prestigious honour.
Bath are the current holders of the trophy, having beaten Leicester Tigers in the 2024/25 Grand Final 23-21.
Leicester Tigers are comfortably the most successful team in Gallagher Prem history, winning 11 of the 38 titles contested.
Bath Rugby, who went 30 years without a title following a dominant period in the late 90s are second in the list, having won seven titles.
Wasps - who went into administration in 2022 and are yet to return to the English top flight - and Saracens are next in the list, having won six titles a piece, with a big drop off to the next teams in the standings.
Exeter Chiefs, Northampton Saints and Harlequins have all won the Prem twice, with all six of their combined titles coming post 2012, while Newcastle and Sale Sharks have both won the title on just one occasion.
Prem ever-presents Gloucester Rugby are the most high profile club to have never lifted the Gallagher Prem title, having been runners-up on four occasions.
