Scotland will have revenge on their minds as they tackle Argentina in Cordoba and this Nations Championship clash promises to be a close battle.
That afternoon at Murrayfield the Scots led 21-0 not long after half-time before they collapsed and allowed Argentina to claim a 33-24 victory.
Back in action for the first time since their Six Nations campaign concluded in Dublin in March, it's an experienced but changed Scotland side that will line up at the Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes.
Best Bet - Scotland +8.5 @ 4/5
Alternative Bet - Under 56.5 points @ 10/11
Bet Builder - Rodrigo Isgro to score a try & Ewan Ashman to score a try @ 6/1
Best Bet: Scotland +8.5 @ 4/5
Scotland put on a clinic for 45 minutes when Argentina came calling at Murrayfield in the November Series, the last time these sides met seven months ago as Townsend's side led 21-0 shortly after half time.
Los Pumas roared back with a 33-3 rout of their hosts from that point onwards and Scotland will come to Cordoba for this Nations Championship contest eager to set the record straight.
Argentina are not entirely predictable, with six wins and seven losses in 13 games during 2025 and assessing what Felipe Contepomi's side will bring to this first outing of 2026 is tough.
They have home advantage and lots of experience, with second row Matias Alemanno bringing up a century of caps in blue and white. Centre Faustino Sanchez Valarolo makes his Test debut at the other end of the scale.
Scotland are without Finn Russell but can call on Test match experience too. Kyle Rowe, Kyle Steyn and Jamie Dobie form the back three, while Jack Dempsey, Rory Darge and Matt Fagerson continue as an experienced back-row unit.
Tom Jordan starts at 10 in Russell's absence, with Ben White at scrum-half, with Zander Fagerson and Darcy Graham among the replacements.
Scotland have been a Jekyll and Hyde side themselves. The November loss to this opposition a case in point, while their Six Nations win over France in the spring threatened a complete rout before Les Bleus were permitted four tries in the final 15 minutes.
This should be a close-run affair, which could go either way, and Scotland with an 8.5-point start looks like a fair stance to take.
Alternative Bet: Under 56.5 points @ 10/11
An over/under line at 56.5 points for this clash is worth siding with on the low side.
The Scots haven't played since their defeat against Ireland in Dublin in March, while Los Pumas are back for the first time since a 27-23 loss against England at Twickenham in November.
When Scotland were last in Argentina for a three-Test series in the summer of 2022, the first two of those games came in comfortably under the 56.5-point tally at 44 and 35 points, while their most recent meeting crept over by a half-point.
There's bound to be some rustiness and with Scotland missing Russell at No. 10 they may have to rely on power more so than creativity in what could be a bruising game.
Rodrigo Isgro to score a try
Ewan Ashman to score a try
Pays 6/1
A bruising encounter will suit Scottish hooker Ewan Ashman, who has scored four tries in two Tests against Los Pumas.
He crossed over in each half at Murrayfield in November and his tally of 14 tries in his 35 caps is a record for a Scotland forward.
The hosts will be looking for Rodrigo Isgro to do some scoring damage. The former Olympic bronze-medal winning sevens star is now an established part of the Pumas 15-a-side squad.
He made 10 Gallagher Prem appearances for Harlequins in season 2025-26 and scored three tries, while he also got one at Murrayfield in November.
