According to reports, Real Betis are pushing to sign former Tottenham Hotspur striker Troy Parrott, who was a target for West Ham United earlier in the window.
The Irons reportedly had a bid in the region of £17m turned down for the 24 year-old Ireland international, but decided to move on to other targets as a result.
A product of the Tottenham Hotspur youth academy, Troy Parrott joined Dutch Eredivisie outfit AZ Alkmaar in 2021 for around €4m, having made just four appearances for Spurs' first team.
Since making the move to the Netherlands, Parrott has had a breakout few seasons, scoring 51 goals and registering 17 assists across 97 appearances, firmly establishing himself as an Ireland international in the process.
His form has attracted the attention of a number of suitors this summer, with West Ham being joined by PSV Eindhoven, Ajax, RB Leipzig and Como in being credited with an apparent interest in his signature.
However, seemingly from nowhere, it now appears that La Liga side Real Betis - who qualified for the UEFA Champions League ahead of the upcoming season - have won the race to sign the 37-cap Irishman.
According to journalist Anthony Joseph, Real Betis are in advanced talks to sign the former Spurs man and are 'not far' from agreeing a deal for his signature.
All of this comes after West Ham's reported £17m move, though Nuno Espirito Santo's side are now progressing on a deal to bring Leeds striker Joel Piroe to the London Stadium this summer instead.
Should the move go through, Real Betis would become the eighth club of Parrott's short career so far, as he continues an unorthodox route back to the top tier of European football.
