Rangers have reportedly made an approach to re-sign Wrexham forward Josh Windass.
Respected journalist Ben Jacobs exclusively broke the news, reporting: "Rangers have made a fresh approach to Josh Windass to discuss bringing him back to Ibrox.
"It follows an attempt in January which Wrexham rebuffed". Jacobs added that is is a "move driven by Danny Rohl, who had Windass at Sheffield Wednesday".
"Club-to-club talks" are yet to take place, and it's yet to be seen as to whether the Championship outfit would sanction the sale of Windass after indicating that they didn't want to part ways with the forward in the summer.
Windass joined Wrexham on a free transfer in the summer of 2025, having mutually agreed to part ways with Sheffield Wednesday after five years with the club.
He had a sizeable impact in the Red Dragons' positive return to the second flight, scoring 15 Championship goals in the 2025/26 campaign as his side narrowly missed out on a play-off spot.
The 32-year-old signed for Rangers in July 2016 off the back of the club's return to the Scottish Premiership, signing a four-year contract alongside fellow Accrington Stanley player Matt Crooks.
Windass endured a tough opening season at Ibrox, registering five assists but failing to score in 21 top-flight games as the Gers recorded a respectable third-placed finish after a four-year absence in the first division.
He enjoyed a much-improved 2017/18 season however, scoring 12 goals and notching eight assists in the Scottish Premiership before making the switch to then-Championship side Wigan Athletic in August 2018.
Rangers' renewed interest in Windass is reportedly driven by manager Rohl, proving that, despite a tough end to the 2025/26 campaign, the club wish to back him as they seek a first league title since 2020/21 under the stewardship of Steven Gerrard.
