Rangers have sent scouts to monitor the progress of Doncaster and Northern Ireland U21 international Bayley McCann, according to reports.
The 20-year-old has caught the eye in limited minutes for the South Yorkshire outfit, so much so that he has attracted the interest of the Scottish giants, who were in attendance as McCann made his first League One start for Donny against Stockport on Tuesday night.
McCann joined his father and current Donny manager, Grant, in January when he put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half-year deal at the Keepmoat Stadium.
Journalist Pete O'Rourke reported the news on his X account, saying: "Rangers have sent scouts to watch Doncaster Rovers and Northern Ireland U21 international Bayley McCann in Tuesday’s clash against Stockport County."
The Cheltenham-born defender began his career in Peterborough's youth setup before making a move to Barnsley in 2024. He made his EFL debut for the Tykes against Blackpool in March of the following year, eventually joining Doncaster after loan spells at Peterborough Sports and Alfreton Town.
Able to feature in multiple positions, McCann has been deployed at both left and right-wing back for his club, as well as in central midfield for Northern Ireland U21s.
He scored his first international goal in a 4-0 victory over Malta U21s in late September.
Belgian youth international Tuur Rommens and former Hearts man James Penrice are Rangers' current options at left-back, however, with the latter only at Ibrox on loan, manager Derek McInnes may look to bring in a more permanent option in the summer.
