Punters rejoice as blockbuster 120/1 Messi, Mbappe and Haaland World Cup treble lands for a second time

It was always expected that this year's battle for the coveted World Cup Golden Boot would be a close ran affair, and isn't it just proving so!

World Cup

We have already seen a plethora of the game's biggest names donning their goalscoring boots early on in the tournament, with the World Cup's recently crowned all-time leading scorer Lionel Messi hitting five in his two games to date, and Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland notching four in their opening couple of appearances too.

In fact, the heavyweight trio have notched at least two goals in each of their six combined group encounters, with the most recent of those handsomely rewarding plenty of our punters who had pieced together a tasty looking treble ahead of Argentina's, France's and Norway's second group encounters.

After the three powerhouses flexed their goalscoring muscle in their tournament openers, we pieced together an appetising 120/1 accumulator on each of them replicating their feats across their countries second group stage fixtures with Austria, Iraq and Senegal.

Did they deliver? Of course they did!

The generational great Messi got the ball rolling with a brace in his country's 2-0 success over Austria, and that despite missing an earlier penalty, before Real Madrid's French icon Mbappe bagged two of his own in Les Bleus' comfortable 3-0 win against Iraq.

Then, in the early hours of Tuesday morning, Manchester City linchpin Haaland continued on from where he left off against Iraq a few days earlier, by hitting his 58th and 59th international goals in a pulsating clash with African qualifiers Senegal to ensure it's still those big names leading the charge in the race for the top goalscorer gong.

"The cream has certainly risen to the top very early at this World Cup with punters already making hay with the big names," bet365's Steve Freeth said.

We felt the full force of their world class goalscoring ability in the opening round and we suffered a lot worse the second time around too!

"What's worse for us is that we have telephone numbers running on to Harry Kane against Ghana, whilst there are even a few punters on a monstrous 2,268/1 acca which includes both Kane and Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo!"

Kane, of course, will be looking to add to the two goals he scored for the Three Lions against Croatia last time out when they take on Ghana this evening, whilst Ronaldo will be doing his utmost to step out of the dark shadow of fellow icon Messi by breaking his duck at this summer's showpiece in their upcoming match with Uzbekistan.
