As we gear up for the 2025 instalment of the great darting roadshow, the Premier League, we take a look at some of the records and statistics surrounding the enthralling competition.
Michael van Gerwen is the most successful player in Premier League Darts history having won the coveted title on seven occasions.
In fact, MVG's efficiency in the tournament is so impressive that he has featured in the showpiece final in nine of his 11 appearances in the competition.
He has won seven of those, including in each of the past two years.
Phil Taylor is second in the list, with six triumphs - four of which came consecutively between 2005 and 2008, when the Power was at the absolute peak of his tungsten powers.
Most Premier League Darts Titles:
Seven - Michael van Gerwen (2013, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023)
Six - Phil Taylor (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2012)
Two - Gary Anderson (2011, 2015)
One - James Wade (2009)
One - Raymond van Barneveld (2014)
One - Glen Durrant (2019)
One - Jonny Clayton (2020)
One - Luke Littler (2024)
Raymond van Barneveld holds the current record for the most tournament appearances, having featured in 14 of the 19 editions to date.
Taylor is second in the list on 13, the same tally as Michael van Gerwen who will draw level with his friend and great Dutch rival in 2026 should he go on to make the cut.
Record Appearances:
14 - Raymond van Barneveld
13 - Phil Taylor & Michael van Gerwen
12 - James Wade
11 - Gary Anderson
Barney, as a consequence of his record number of appearances in the competition, also comes out on top of the list for the most matches played in Premier League Darts history.
Van Barneveld has featured in a total of 211 matches, three more than Taylor who is second on the list with 208.
Phil Taylor's record of 44 unbeaten matches between 2005 and 2008 is unlikely to ever be beaten.
The Power demolished all who stood in front of him as he won all four of the opening four editions of the Premier League Darts, losing his first ever match en-route to his fourth tournament success in 2008.
It was James Wade who broke his unbeaten record with an 8-6 success on his tournament debut, but Taylor had the last laugh, prevailing victorious 14-8 in the final a couple of months later.
The opening year of the tournament saw players partake in all 12 legs of their group stage matches, as opposed to ending once a player had reached seven legs.
This meant that Phil Taylor was able to dish out a couple of hidings against Wayne Mardle and Peter Manley, both of whom were on the end of mammoth 11-1 defeats.
Phil Taylor's prolific nature continued in the 2005 final as he blew Colin Lloyd away yet again, romping home to a resounding 16-4 success.
It's a result that remains the most lopsided triumph in Premier League Darts group stage history, and one that will likely not be broken given the new, shorter format of the competition.
Gary Anderson set the record for the most 180s in a single Premier League Darts match with 11 in his sublime 8-6 victory over Simon Whitlock on week 11 of the 2011 tournament.
The Flying Scotsman rattled home eight maximums as he notched a 103.51 average en-route to winning the competition for the first time.
Jose de Sousa has since matched that tally however, scoring 11 perfect visits of his own in an 8-3 success over Nathan Aspinall in 2021.
The introduction of a new Premier League format in 2022 provided players with more matches to participate in over the course of the season and yet the standard of tungsten has remained incredible.
Gerwyn Price was at his sensational best in 2023, chalking up a mammoth 20 100+ averages over the 17 nights.
His performances in Brighton were the pick of the bunch, with the Iceman averaging a phenomenal 108.04 across his three matches to claim one of his four nightly wins.
Michael van Gerwen broke the world record TV average in 2016 after ending on 123.40 as he beat Michael Smith in the Premier League.
The record was previously held by Phil Taylor, who managed 118.66 against Kevin Painter at the 2010 UK Open, but that was blown away by Van Gerwen, who stormed to a 7-1 win over Smith in Aberdeen.
Van Gerwen started with an 11-darter and had his average above 130 over the first three legs, the third of which he finished in only 12 darts.
He secured a second break to move 4-0 in front with some exhibition stuff, hitting a 132 finish with two bullseyes.
The then world number one was six darts into a nine-darter in leg five before missing a rare shot, but he made it 5-0 in quick style and blazed his way into a 6-0 lead before Smith responded.
Incredibly, MVG missed three darts at a double in the final leg to take a couple of points off his balmy average.
Phil Taylor was simply imperious as he surged to top spot in the group stages in 2012, averaging a remarkable 107.95 as he registered a table-topping 24 points from his 14 matches.
Surprisingly, his tungsten brilliance still wasn't enough to see him come through the group unbeaten, as he drew two and lost one of his 14 encounters, but his average was still enough to cement his spot at the summit by some distance.
The Power's three-figure average was almost 10 points better than that of his nearest challenger, Raymond van Barneveld, who despite missing out on a playoff berth, averaged nigh on 99 across the 14 nights.
Glen Durrant's defence of his Premier League Darts crown ended in absolute disaster in 2021, averaging a mere 86.36 as he was dumped out of the competition early doors.
Duzza, who beat Nathan Aspinall in the final 12 months earlier, incredibly lost all nine of his group stage encounters, with a leg difference of -39, the worst of all-time.
Unsurprisingly, it's that man MVG, yet again, who boasts the record for the highest average in a Premier League Darts Final.
As if notching a match, and world record high of 123.40 in 2016 wasn't enough, the Dutch maestro then went and average 112.37 as he brushed Michael Smith aside to capture a third successive Premier League crown - scoring a seasonal high 10 180s in the process.
There have been a total of 16 perfect legs in Premier League Darts history with four players notching more than one.
Phil Taylor and Gerwyn Price lead the way with three, with the Power notching two of his in the same match - whilst Raymond van Barneveld, Adrian Lewis and Gerwyn Price (pictured below) have all registered two 9-darters in the tournament's existence.
Simon Whitlock, Michael Smith, Peter Wright, Jonny Clayton, Jose de Sousa and world champion Luke Littler have also produced tungsten perfection.
The most recent perfect-leg was achieved by Littler in the 2024 final, when he pinned double 12 for ultimate darting perfection in his 11-7 triumph over Luke Humphries.
