Premier League Darts: Highest match & tournament averages

Find out which players have recorded the highest match and tournament averages in Premier League Darts history.

Highest Premier League Darts Match Average

123.40 - Michael van Gerwen (2016)

Michael van Gerwen broke the world record TV average in 2016 after ending on 123.40 as he beat Michael Smith in the Premier League

The record was previously held by Phil Taylor, who managed 118.66 against Kevin Painter at the 2010 UK Open, but that was blown away by Van Gerwen, who stormed to a 7-1 win over Smith in Aberdeen.

MVG started with an 11-darter and had his average above 130 over the first three legs, the third of which he finished in only 12 darts.

He secured a second break to move 4-0 in front with some exhibition stuff, hitting a 132 finish with two bullseyes.

The then world number one was six darts into a nine-darter in leg five before missing a rare shot, but he made it 5-0 in quick style and blazed his way into a 6-0 lead before Smith responded.

Incredibly, MVG missed three darts at a double in the final leg to take a couple of points off his outrageous average.

Highest Premier League Darts Tournament Average

107.95 - Phil Taylor (2012)

Phil Taylor was simply imperious as he surged to the title in 2012, averaging a remarkable 107.95 as he registered a table-topping 24 points from his 14 matches, before capturing the crown with victory over Simon Whitlock.

Surprisingly, his tungsten brilliance still wasn't enough to see him come through the group unbeaten, as he drew two and lost one of his 14 encounters, but his average was still enough to cement his spot at the summit by some distance.

The Power's three-figure average was almost 10 points better than that of his nearest challenger, Raymond van Barneveld, who despite missing out on a playoff berth, averaged nigh on 99 across the 14 nights.

Highest Premier League Darts Final Average

112.37 - Michael van Gerwen (2018)

Unsurprisingly, it's that man MVG, yet again, who boasts the record for the highest average in a Premier League Darts Final.

As if notching a match, and world record high of 123.40 in 2016 wasn't enough, the Dutch maestro then went and average 112.37 as he brushed Michael Smith aside to capture a third successive Premier League crown - scoring a seasonal high 10 180s in the process.
