Portsmouth's hopes of sealing the high-profile signature of former Dutch youth star Gibson Yah have reportedly suffered a last minute hitch.
The Championship club were understood to be closing in on a deal to snap up for FC Volendam star and had hoped to officially announce him as their first summer capture this week.
However, according to BBC Radio Solent's Andrew Moon, it now appears as though their move has broken down.
"Portsmouth's move for Dutch midfielder Gibson Yah has fallen through," the broadcaster posted on social media on Monday morning.
John Mousinho had been keen to snap-up the in-demand midfielder this summer with the 22-year-old being granted a move following Volendam's relegation from the Eredivisie.
Yah made 26 appearances for the club in the Dutch top-tier last term having signed for the club from FC Utrecht during the 2025 summer transfer window.
Having impressed across the opening few months of the campaign, a serious knee injury sustained in December ruled him out of action until March after which he featured jut five times.
Defeat against Willem II in the Eredevisie relegation play-off consigned them to the Eerste Divisie next season, with Volendam subsequently granting Yah and others the opportunities to move on free transfers to help trim their wage bill.
It had appeared as though Portsmouth had fended off strong interest from around the continent to secure his signature, but Monday's development would seemingly suggest otherwise.
The Hampshire club are expecting to be active during the summer window, with at least one midfielder likely to be on Mousinho's radar as he attempts to build upon last season's 18th place finish.
