Two giants of not just Spanish but world football, Real Madrid and Barcelona contest one of the biggest rivalries in the sport.
As such, there are only a handful of players who've played for both clubs in the careers. Some moves between the clubs have been highly controversial, with Luis Figo having a pig's head thrown at him on his return to Camp Nou following his switch from Barcelona to Real Madrid.
Below, we look at the players to have represented both clubs.
While some moves to rival clubs can be forgiven, losing your best player at the peak of his powers to your biggest rivals cannot be overlooked. Luis Figo's 1999/2000 season saw him earn a move to Real Madrid... and win the Ballon d'Or.
After five years at Camp Nou, Figo made the switch to Real, casting a permanent mark against his name amongst the Barca faithful.
While Barcelona fans were initially hesitant about signing a player from Real Madrid who'd spent five years in the Spanish capital, they quickly warmed to Luis Enrique with the forward going on to spend eight years at the club, later guiding them to the Treble as manager in 2015.
After spending five successful years with Barcelona, Michael Laudrup made the controversial move to Real Madrid in 1994 on the back of being left out of the UEFA Champions League final back in the era of teams only being able to name a limited number of foreign players.
Laudrup insisted there was no ill will from his side when leaving Barca, and that he merely wanted a new challenge. Winning La Liga in his final four seasons at Camp Nou, Laudrup would become a five-time Spanish champion in his first season in the capital.
The hottest property in world football in the 1990s, Ronaldo broke the world record transfer fee twice, spending just 12 months in Catalonia.
As such, fans didn't quite have enough time to build an attachment like they did with others, and perhaps arguing they got the better version of Ronaldo softened the blow of him moving to Real in 2002.
Signed as a precocious talent in 1997, Samuel Eto'o was allowed to leave Real Madrid having only fleetingly appeared for the club, joining Mallorica.
So good was Eto'o for Mallorca that Barcelona snapped up the Cameroon international in 2004 where he'd win the Treble in 2009, scoring 30 La Liga goals.
Eto'o would leave Barcelona after five years, where he scored 108 league goals in 144 appearances.
A supremely talented forwards, Javier Saviola scored 17 La Liga goals in his first season following his move from River Plate, but never quite kicked on from there.
The Argentine left after six seasons with two spent on loan at Monaco and Seville, leaving permanently for Real Madrid in 2007, where he was limited to just 29 appearances in two seasons.
Romania's favourite son, Gheorghe Hagi spent two years at Real Madrid having finally been allowed to ply his trade outside his homeland. A bitterly disappointing end to his second campaign saw Hagi make the switch to Brescia, and despite being relegated in his first season, the Italian side refused to let Hagi leave.
The number 10 did leave after his second season when his footballing idol Johan Cruyff called and requested his services, with Hagi spending two more years in Spain.
Other players to have played for Real Madrid and Barcelona include Luis Milla, Albert Celades, Nano, Alfonso Perez, Miquel Soler, Dani Garcia, Robert Prosinecki, Julen Lopetegui and Marcos Alonso.
