Men's oldest US Open champions

Novak Djokovic - 36 years, 3 months, 19 days

Novak Djokovic clinched his fourth and most recent US Open title with victory over Russia's Daniil Medvedev in 2023, 12 years after his first triumph at the competition.

Ken Rosewall - 35 years, 10 months, 11 days

Ken Rosewall beat follow Australian Tony Roche in 1970 in just the third edition of the US Open since the Open era began in 1968.

While he remained active in the sport up until his retirement in 1980, he was unable to add to his US Open success, losing to Jimmy Connors in the 1974 final.

Rafael Nadal - 33 years, 3 months, 5 days

Rafael Nadal solidified his legacy at the US Open in 2019 when defeating Daniil Medvedev to clinch his fourth honour.

Nadal won all but one of the five US Open finals that he competed in, succumbing to Novak Djokovic in 2011 and simultaneously handing the Serb his first title.

Women's oldest US Open champions

Flavia Pennetta - 33 years, 6 months, 18 days

The women's US Open has seen a plethora of new winners in more recent years and Flavia Pennetta staked her claim when become the oldest female to win the competition, aged 33 years, 6 months and 18 days.

She defeated fellow Italian Roberta Vinci in the 2015 edition in what would turn out to be her last US Open campaign before retiring.

Serena Williams - 32 years, 11 months, 11 days

Leading the way with the most US Open titles (6) alongside Chris Evert, Serena Williams defeated Caroline Wozniacki in 2014 to clinch her sixth and final honour in the competition.

In defeating Wozniacki, she became just the second female tennis player to win three consecutive US Open titles, once again following in the footsteps of Chris Evert, who won the competition on four successive occasions between 1975 and 1978.

Margaret Court - 31 years, 1 month, 23 days

Margaret Court defeated Evonne Goolagong in the 1973 US Open final to clinch her third title since the Open era began.

Her US Open title tally amounts to five when taking into consideration the two honours that she won in the Amateur era, defeating Darlene Hard in 1962 and Billie Jean King in 1965.
