Take a look at the odds to be Manchester United manager on 1st January 2027 as the pressure is heaped on Michael Carrick following a 4-1 defeat to Como in the UEFA Champions League.
Michael Carrick has come under increasing scrutiny at Old Trafford following a dismal start to the season. Manchester United have won two of 11 games in all competitions -- both at home, to Ipswich Town and Sabah -- keeping just one clean sheet in the process.
While results have been alarming, performances have been worse, with United dismantled by Tottenham Hotspur in gameweek 6 before taking an undeserved lead through Bryan Mbeumo. Despite Spurs going down to 10 men five minutes later, Roberto De Zerbi's side scored a stoppage-time equaliser, marking the second time this season the Red Devils have dropped points in the Premier League to a side who'd had a player sent off.
While United were improved against Atletico Madrid in midweek, the 20-time English champions were too easy to break down and suffered a 2-0 defeat.
While a 1-1 draw against Leeds United at Elland Road could have potentially be seen as a step forward, a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Como in the UEFA Champions League will have almost certainly been seen as two steps back.

Market settled on Manchester United's manager on 1st January 2027.
Carrick was installed as the 6/4 favourite to retain the backing of the board by 1st January -- with a lack of suitable alternatives working in his favour -- but former Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe now leads the betting.
The 48-year-old is on the market after parting ways with Newcastle United in July, but it's yet to be seen as to whether he would be the primary contender if Carrick was dismissed.
Antonio Conte features prominently in the betting, but his cycle of upturn in form, fall out with board, departure is all too predictable and could discourage the Red Devils.
Other options include Julian Nagelsmann -- who fell out with Bayern's players during his spell in Munich, leading to his dismissal -- and Hurzeler, who is just 33 years old and hasn't long signed a new contract with Brighton.
Como manager Cesc Fabregas has also been added to the betting after his side sent a message to the rest of Europe with their dominant display against the Red Devils.
