Next Ipswich Manager Contenders: McKenna amongst Fulham favourites

We take a look at the contenders to be the next manager of Ipswich Town as Kieran McKenna is linked with a move to Fulham.

Ipswich sealed an immediate return to the Premier League after securing automatic promotion from the Championship in the 2025/26 season.

The Tractor Boys had been relegated from the top-flight in the 2024/25 campaign after previously securing back-to-back promotions under McKenna.

Following the news that Marco Silva will leave Fulham this summer, McKenna has been installed as one of the favourites to be the next man in the Craven Cottage dugout.

Here are our top five contenders to be the next Ipswich manager in the event that McKenna moves on this summer.

Next Ipswich Manager Contenders

Thomas Frank

Thomas Frank has been linked with a number of positions in recent weeks following a series of changes in the Premier League.

The Danish manager will be out to prove a few doubters wrong following his ill-fated eight-month tenure at Tottenham Hotspur.

Despite his time in North London, Frank still has plenty of credit in the bank after a successful seven-year spell as Brentford manager.

Lee Carsley

England Under 21s manager Lee Carsley has forged a reputation as one of the brighest coaching prospects in Europe.

The two-time European Under 21 Championship winner has developed a number of top-quality English players and overseen their progression into senior internationals.

Carsley could well be considering his next move and a potential venture into club management following Thomas Tuchel's contract extension with England.

Sean Dyche

There is the sense that Sean Dyche has become sick of being labelled as a manager who is brought in to fight fires in tricky situations.

Dyche has said that he will consider his next move carefully and the opportunity to join a Premier League club at the start of a season could appeal.

If Ipswich do become embroiled in a Premier League relegation battle this season, Dyche would provide a considerable amount of experience.

John Eustace

John Eustace has done an excellent job at Derby County over the last 18 months.

Eyebrows were raised when he opted to leave Blackburn Rovers for a relegation battle at Pride Park.

However, he successfully led the Rams to safety in the 2024/25 campaign before narrowly missing out on the Championship play-offs last season.

Steven Gerrard

Steven Gerrard would surely jump at the chance to return to management at Premier League level.

Gerrard has been out of work since leaving his role as Al-Ettifaq manager in the Saudi Pro League.

Despite winning the Scottish Premiership title with Rangers, Gerrard is still looking to establish himself as a manager after an unsuccessful stint at Aston Villa.
