Newcastle United open talks to rival Manchester United for Bundesliga winger

Newcastle United have opened talks with Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim over the signing of their winger Bazoumana Touré.

The Magpies have reportedly opened talks with the German side over a move for the Ivorian winger, who registered 12 assists in the Bundesliga last season.

Eddie Howe's side are in the hunt for a new wide player, after selling Anthony Gordon to FC Barcelona for around £70m earlier in the window, with only Harvey Barnes left at the club as a natural left winger.

Fellow Premier League side Manchester United have also been linked with a move for the five-cap Ivory Coast international, alongside a number of Europe's biggest clubs.

Any move for Touré would not come cheaply, with Hoffenheim holding all of the cards.

Reports suggest that the Bundesliga side are under no pressure to sell their best players and, with multiple clubs interested in signing the Ivorian, they are likely to command a hefty fee to part with their main man.

At just 20 years-old, Touré has had a meteoric rise to the top, only joining Hoffenheim from Swedish side Hammarby, where he registered 12 goals and assists in 23 matches, for €10m in January 2025.

A skillful, pacy predominantly left sided winger, who can play on both sides if needed, the Ivorian has played 45 times in all competitions since joining the Germans, scoring five goals and registering 15 assists.

He only made his debut for his national team in October 2025, but has since played five times for his nation, scoring twice.

The Hoffenheim man has been named in his nation's squad for the 2026 World Cup, as he looks to make an impact on the global stage ahead of the summer transfer window.

With Europe's biggest sides already chasing his signature, Newcastle United will need to act fast if they are to get their man and replace the outgoing Anthony Gordon.
