Wolves are facing a battle to retain the services of promising forward Mateus Mane in the 2026/27 summer transfer window.
Liam Keen of Express & Star took to X to break the news that 'Newcastle, Dortmund and Frankfurt are among a number of clubs across Europe showing an interest in signing Mateus Mane'.
He added that 'Wolves remain determined to keep him this summer', with the Portugal-born star having enjoyed a breakthrough season at Molineux in the 2025/26 campaign.
With relegation from the Premier League comes an inevitable battle to keep hold of your leading players, and Mane is amongst the recently relegated players set to draw interest.
The 18-year-old joined Wolves' academy from Rochdale in February of 2024, scoring and registering an assist in just his third appearance for the club's U18s.
The 2024/25 term marked Mane's first full campaign with the U18s, finding the net on seven occasions and notching four assists in 15 league outings. He was included in a senior top-flight squad for the first time in his career against Fulham on 25th February 2025, before making his debut when appearing as a substitute against Brighton on 10th May.
Mane made just one appearance in Wolves' opening 12 contests of the 2025/26 Premier League season, but a series of promising substitute cameos saw him handed a first Premier League start against then reigning champions Liverpool on 27th December 2025, where he played 90 minutes.
He's featured in every top-flight game for the West Midlands outfit since being handed his full debut under Rob Edwards at Anfield, contributing to three goals and two assists in the 2025/26 Premier League season.
Arguably Wolves' only shining light in a dismal term, it may prove difficult to retain his services amid suggestions that numerous clubs are tracking his movements.
Newcastle, who sold regular starter Anthony Gordon for a reported £70m to Barcelona, could enter the market in pursuit of forward reinforcement, while Bundesliga duo Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt have a knack for recruiting smartly and could show their hand.
With that said, Cesar Peixoto, who is set to succeed Edwards in the Molineux dugout, will be desperate to keep Mane, who you'd suspect could reach new heights in the Championship.
