More than 60,000 athletes will descend on the Big Apple this week for the 2026 New York City Marathon.
A quarter of a million people are said to have applied to race in the streets of New York City, with in excess of two million spectators set to be in attendance for the largest marathon anywhere in the world.
Last year's race saw Hellen Obiri set a new women's course record and the defending champion will be among a number of elite runners looking to make history on Sunday.

The 2026 New York City Marathon will be broadcast live in the UK in its entirety on TNT Sports 2, with coverage getting underway at 13:30 GMT.
Live streaming and on-demand viewing will be available via HBO Max.
Who won the New York City Marathon last year?
More than 55,000 runners were involved in the the 2025 New York City Marathon.
The male winner last year was Kenya's Benson Kipturo who claimed his fourth Major win with a time of 2:08:09, while his compatriot Hellen Obiri was crowned female winner with a new course record-winning time of 2:19:51.
Weather
While there has historically been adverse weather during the New York City Marathon, this year's forecast calls for dry conditions and unseasonably warm temperatures.
Temperatures are expected to start around 10 degrees celsius before rising to around 15 around midday.
