FIFA have announced that a new simulation football game will be released in time for next summer's World Cup.
Developed by Delphi Interactive, the simulation game is set to be exclusively available on streaming giant Netflix.
The game is set to feature both single player and online modes and be controlled entirely on the player's phone. Netflix subscribers will be able to access the title through the service's Games platform for no extra cost.
Set to be released ahead of the 2026 FIFA showpiece in North America, the title is set to mark the governing body's first licensed gaming product since their split with EA Sports in 2023 - following a dispute over licensing fees.
Speaking on the announcement, president of games at Netflix Alain Tascan insisted the new title will have inclusivity at the forefront of its design.
"The FIFA World Cup is going to be the cultural event of 2026," said Tascan. "Now fans will be able to celebrate their fandom by bringing the game right into their living rooms.
"We want to bring football back to its roots with something everyone can play with just the touch of a button."
Following the highly-publicised EA split, Gianni Infantino insisted FIFA's next officially-licensed game would be the best available on the market.
Speaking following the announcement the FIFA president called the Netflix partnership a "historic step" for the organisation.
"FIFA is very excited to team up with Netflix Games and Delphi Interactive ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026." Infantino said.
"This major collaboration is a key milestone in FIFA’s commitment to innovation in the football gaming space, which aspires to reach billions of football fans of all ages everywhere in the world and will be redefining the pure notion of simulation games.
"Our re-imagined game truly marks the beginning of a new era of digital football. It will be available for free to Netflix members and is a great historic step for FIFA."
