4th July is an iconic date for citizens of the United States, as the country celebrates the anniversary of winning their independence from the British crown.
However, in recent years an arguably more iconic event has risen to prominence on that fabled date: Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest, and the return of wiener-gobbling supremo Joey Chestnut.
Can anyone come close to toppling eating GOAT Chestnut, or will he claim an 18th title in New York?
We detail the latest odds ahead of the the eagerly anticipated event this weekend.
Boasting a long history of over 50 years of competitive eating competitions, Nathan's Hot Dog Eating contest has become a genuine sporting event of interest, taking place at the famous home of Nathan's, their original restaurant in Coney Island, New York City.
The event is broadcast to an international audience and rose to prominence in the 2000s thanks largely to the exploits of six-time champion Takeru "The Tsunami" Kobayashi - coined "the godfather of competitive eating".
The event has been dominated by star-eater Chestnut in recent years, with the Kentucky native securing an unprecedented 17 titles in his career. From 2007 to 2023 Chestnut ruled the contest, winning every year except 2015, when he lost to Matt Stonie.
'Jaws' missed the 2024 edition of the famous contest in controversial circumstances, with the defending champion banned due to sponsorship issues. However he returned in style in 2025, devouring 70 and 1⁄2 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes to claim a 17th crown.
