After securing his fifth Tour de France title and etching his name in cycling history, the sports world is now wondering if the Slovenian will start the Vuelta a España in an attempt to win all three Grand Tours.
In another commanding performance, Tadej Pogačar has won his fifth Tour de France, joining an exclusive club of riders who have achieved this milestone, standing alongside legends such as Eddy Merckx, Jacques Anquetil, Miguel Indurain, and Bernard Hinault.
From the very first stages in Spain, the UAE Team Emirates rider made it clear he was at the Tour to make history.
He left no room for doubt, immediately gaining an advantage over his main rival, Jonas Vingegaard. The Dane's withdrawal in the final week ultimately cleared the path for Pogačar to be crowned the Tour de France champion for the fifth time.
Pogačar Confirmed for Vuelta 2026 Start
Following the Tour, the question on everyone's mind was whether Pogačar would compete in the Vuelta to try and win all three Grand Tours.
The answer came directly from UAE Team Emirates' social media channels: Pogačar will be at the starting line of the Vuelta, a race he has competed in only once before, finishing on the podium as a very young rider.
A Potential Rematch with Vingegaard?
A crash during Stage 18 forced Jonas Vingegaard to abandon the Tour de France, marking the first time he has missed the podium in his six appearances.
The Danish rider, who already won the Giro d'Italia in May, might decide to race the Vuelta to end his season with another Grand Tour podium finish after his hopes were dashed in France.
However, with one Grand Tour victory already secured this year, Vingegaard could also choose to rest and focus on the World Championships and the Giro di Lombardia, two major races he has yet to win in his career.
