He captained Argentina to victory at the 2022 World Cup and he also played in the 2014 final against Germany.
His tally of 21 goals also makes them the highest goalscorer in World Cup history.
Javier Mascherano is third on the list of the most all-time World Cup appearances for Argentina with 20 matches, but he is second when considering appearances post 1990.
Angel Di Maria and Nicolas Otamendi are next on the list with 18 World Cup appearances.
The likes of Gabriel Batistuta, Gonzalo Higuain and Sergio Aguero also feature in the top ten.
