Unlike the top flight of English football, the Scottish Premiership has never been inundated with huge signings.
Astonishingly, every single one of the 100 most expensive players in the division were purchased by either Celtic or Rangers.
We've compiled a list of the top five most expensive signings in the Scottish Premiership.
Norwich -> Celtic (2024)
Mooted as one of the brightest forwards in England when breaking through at Norwich, Adam Idah scored 20 goals in 137 appearances for the Canaries before a move north of the border beckoned in 2024.
An impressive loan spell with Celtic eventually saw the club sign the striker on a permanent deal, joining for a reported €9.90m fee in the summer prior to the 2024/25 term.
PSG -> Celtic (2018)
Odsonne Edouard's arrival was understandably one of the most eagerly anticipated in Scottish Premiership history, signing on a permanent deal from Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain.
87 goals and 37 assists later, the Frenchman would get his move to the Premier League, joining Crystal Palace for a reported £14m.
FC Augsburg -> Celtic (2024)
Just 18 months after joining Bundesliga side FC Augsburg, Arne Engels made the €13m switch to Celtic in August 2024.
The Belgian scored nine and assisted five times in his debut campaign en route to Scottish Premiership glory with the Bhoys, with reports of a high-price departure already being mooted.
Rennes -> Celtic (2025)
While Jota's €10m return to Celtic in 2025 would have earned him fifth place in the list, it's his primary €16.20m move to the club in 2022 that means he occupies second spot.
Recording double figures in goals and assists in the 2022/23 Premiership campaign, he attracted the interest of Saudi Pro League team Al Ittihad, earning Celtic a then club-record fee of €29.10m.
Unable to find his feat in Saudi Arabia, he would make the permanent switch to Rennes, before making his return to Glasgow in the 2024/25 January transfer window.
Chelsea -> Rangers (2000)
Despite inflation and the influx of money in football in recent years, it's Tore Andre Flo's move to Rangers in 2000 that takes top spot in the standings, signing from Chelsea for a reported €18m.
The renowned journeyman would last just last two years at the Ibrox club, scoring 38 times in 71 appearances.
