Middlesbrough, Burnley & Wolves plot ambitious moves for 'mercurial' Liverpool talent

Liverpool's highly-regarded attacker Kieran Morrison is set to be the subject of an intense Championship transfer tussle this summer.

The livewire Northern Ireland international winger is regarded as one of the hottest young talents coming through Melwood and could be set for his first real taste of senior action next season.

The 19-year-old made two first-team appearances under Arne Slot, and whilst it's believed new boss Andoni Iraola is keen to see Morrison at close quarters, the likelihood is that the Spaniard will sanction a temporary departure to boost his development.

His potential availability has already pricked the ears of a handful of second-tier clubs, including those of Middlesbrough, Burnley and Wolves, together with Championship newbies Bolton Wanderers.

SportsBoom are reporting that all four clubs have got the forward on their transfer watchlists, with Boro in particular pushing hard to seal an agreement with the Merseyside giants.

The North East side, who narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League following an agonising play-off final defeat to Hull City last month, played a key role in the development of Ben Gannon-Doak, and hope their previous positive dealings with Liverpool propel them to the front of the queue for the sought after Morrison.

The Irish youngster made his Liverpool debut in an EFL Cup loss against Crystal Palace last October before featuring in an FA Cup victory over Wolves in March.

He subsequently made the substitutes bench for each of the side's final seven league fixtures, but despite being described as a 'mercurial talent' by Slot, failed to make his Premier League bow.

Morrison did get his first taste of international action on Thursday evening however, as he starred for Martin O'Neil's Northern Ireland side in their 1-0 friendly win over Guinea, and will now hope to feature against France next Monday evening (20:10 BST).
