Mason Mount has suffered yet another injury blow on the eve of the the 2026/27 Premier League season.
The Manchester United midfielder has featured regularly in pre-season and was expected to start as the club get their campaign underway away to newly-promoted Hull City on Saturday.
However, on the eve of the fixture a report from Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic has revealed that Mount has suffered minor hamstring issue and is now expected to spend yet another spell on the sidelines.
Mount had started as United closed out their pre-season preparations with a friendly against European champions Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg earlier this month.
However, after just 18 minutes the 36-cap England international took a heavy challenge and was replaced by academy graduate Jack Fletcher as Michael Carrick's side went on to claim a 1-1 draw.
With Mount once again set to be ruled out through injury, we've taken a look at when he could be back in action for United.
Ruled out of United's opener against Hull City, Mount now faces an uncertain few weeks as he looks to work his way back into contention.
With the hamstring issue described as minor, it is expected that the 27-year-old won't have to wait to wait too long to be available selection.
Provided there are no further setbacks in his recovery, Mount could be available as United travel to the Hill Dickinson Stadium to take on Everton on 6 September.
While the current issue may be minor, it is merely the latest instance of Mount being plagued with injuries which have repeatedly limited his involvement since joining United from boyhood club Chelsea in the summer of 2023.
Last season he missed a total of nine games through three separate injuries, and yet the 23 Premier League appearances he ended the campaign with still represent a career-high since arriving at Old Trafford.
Mount has not played more than 30 league games in a season since 2021-22 with Chelsea.
Speaking on Mount's injury woes this week Carrick insisted United have the strength in depth to deal with any absences.
"He has missed some football over recent years, and he wants to be fit and be in that full rhythm and stay fit," the United manager said. "We are doing our best to help him do that.
"He is a top player, Mason. We have to manage the squad. There are going to be injuries throughout the season.
"We’ve got to have a squad that is strong enough to have a really top starting team with the depth to carry us through the season."
