Following successful surgery for a foot fracture, we analyse the latest updates to determine a potential return date for Marc Márquez.
MotoGP star Marc Márquez is now in the early stages of recovery after undergoing a successful dual surgical procedure.
The primary operation was to stabilise a fracture in the fifth metatarsal of his right foot, an injury sustained during a crash in the final stages of the French Grand Prix Sprint race.
Additionally, Márquez underwent a second, pre-planned surgery to address a lingering issue in his right shoulder.
This older injury has been causing him discomfort since a crash at the Indonesian Grand Prix last year.
The Spanish rider has returned home to begin his rehabilitation.
His progress over the coming weeks will be the key factor in determining when he can get back on the bike and return to competition.
Márquez's return to the track is entirely dependent on his recovery, meaning there is no firm date set for his comeback. Based on the MotoGP calendar, he is at risk of missing several upcoming rounds:
Date | Grand Prix | Circuit |
May 15-17 | Catalonia | Barcelona-Catalunya |
May 29-31 | Italy | Mugello |
June 5-7 | Hungary | Balaton Park |
June 19-21 | Czech Republic | Brno |
June 26-28 | Netherlands | Assen |
