A number of ex-Manchester United stars including Rio Ferdinand, Ryan Giggs and Edwin van der Sar will take to the pitch for a match in Suwon, South Korea this weekend.
The core of the team that delivered United's 2008 UEFA Champions League triumph have formed 'OGFC', an independent legends team conceived by football content site Shoot for Love.
OGFC will make their debut on Sunday at the 44,000-capacity Suwon World Cup Stadium that hosted multiple games at the 2002 FIFA showpiece - including the famous round of 16 clash between Spain and the Republic of Ireland.
They will take on a legends team comprised of former Suwon Samsung Bluewings players, a Korean side that were crowned K League champions on four occasions but currently play in the second tier.
The game is not intended to be a one off, and OGFC are expected to compete in a number of exhibitions around the world in the coming months.
In a video shared on Shoot for Love's YouTube channel last month the organisers travelled to meet United record appearance holder Ryan Giggs to convince him to join the project.
The team's aim is to surpass the 73% win rate they achieved during the 2008-09 season that saw Manchester United crowned Premier League champions for a third successive campaign, four points ahead of their nearest challengers Liverpool.
