Manchester City legend David Silva has completed a stunning return to professional football, agreeing a short-term deal with Hong Kong Premier League side Supreme Sha Tin.
The former City man, who lifted the 2010 World Cup with Spain, is set to make a surprising comeback in Asia three years after initially hanging up his boots.
While full details of the contract are yet to be fully announced, Silva could make his debut under head coach Tom Ballantyne on Saturday 18th October against Hong Kong Football Club.
Silva's return to football adds another chapter to an exceptional playing career, which consisted of 124 goals and 154 assists across 784 professional appearances.
Renowned for his vision and technical brilliance, the midfield playmaker won nearly every major honor available to him, with the UEFA Champions League the only major trophy that remained elusive for the Spaniard.
On the international stage, Silva played an integral role in Spain's golden era, adding back-to-back European Championship titles in 2008 and 2012 to the 2010 World Cup triumph.
At club level, he established himself as a Premier League icon by winning four league titles with Manchester City before adding a Copa del Rey triumph with Real Sociedad in 2020.
Supreme Sha Tin earned promotion to the Hong Kong Premier League last season and previously claimed a Second Division championship during their rise through the ranks.
Sha Tin currently sit ninth in their domestic league after four matches so far this season, having won just once.
Ballantyne will be hoping that the pedigree and world class talent possessed by the Spaniard will be enough to help turn his side's fortunes around as they look to climb the table.
