An intriguing field of 15 will jump for the King George Stakes on the penultimate day of the Glorious Goodwood.
Conquered by the likes of Bataash, Big Evs and Highfield Princess in recent years, this year's renewal might not spit out a horse quite up to that level, however, it is a fascinating contest in its own right.
Hoping to stamp his authority on a muddling division for the third time this season is Night Raider (7/2).
Karl Burke's charge has had a wonderful career, running in the 2,000 Guineas as a three-year-old before rediscovering his mojo back at sprinting trips after failing to see out the mile. He's been a beacon on consistency in an otherwise volatile division, winning both the Palace House and Temple Stakes before being slightly outclassed in the King Charles III Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Rumstar (4/1) got closest to Night Raider in the Palace House and got back in the winner's enclosure himself when taking the Group 3 Sprint Stakes at Sandown last time out.
Many of these have banged heads against each other multiple times this season and Jakajaro (6/1) very much fits this bill. In fairness, he's been a model of consistency since progressing from handicaps at the beginning of the season, his effort to finish fifth behind Mission Central last month was surely a career best performance.
Last year's winner JM Jungle (9/1) is back for more, but it doesn't look likely that punters will be able to take the 14/1 that was available 12 months ago. Two from three at the Sussex venue, this track clearly suits and he is likely to be on scene yet again.
