Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall denies switching international allegiance to the Republic of Ireland

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall will not represent the Republic of Ireland internationally, despite recent reports to the contrary.

Earlier this week news circulated on social media that Everton midfielder had informed Heimir Hallgrimsson of his desire to be considered for an call-up.

The report claimed that the administrative process was already underway, and that Dewsbury-Hall was hopeful of being involved when The Boys in Green return to action in September for Nations League fixtures against Kosovo and Israel in September.

Born in Nottingham, Dewsbury-Hall would qualify to represent Ireland internationally based on his family hertiage.

The 27-year-old has never represented England at any level, and insisted on social media on Wednesday that representing the Three Lions remains his ultimate goal.

"Just not true," Dewsbury-Hall responded to reports of a potential Ireland call-up.

"Massive respect to Ireland as I’ve previously stated, but I’m English & England is always the dream."

He previously poured cold water on the possibility of a Ireland call-up in November, following reports that his Everton team-mate Seamus Coleman had attempted to convince him to make the switch.

"I see myself as English and have it in my head that I can play for England," he said.

"I don't want to lead people on about what I want to do because I respect the Irish people and fans.

"I just want to give myself a chance to play for England, which is a lifelong dream. I'm playing for a massive club that's on the up, and I still believe I can do it."

After finding consistent minutes hard to come by during his sole season at Chelsea, Dewsbury-Hall joined Everton in August in a deal worth a reported £29million.

Now one of the key players for David Moyes' side, Dewsbury-Hall enjoyed one of the most productive campaigns of his career to date in 2025/26, netting eight Premier League goals and contributing six assists.
