England captain Joe Root dismissed concerns surrounding his form with the bat after making 4 & 24 against Pakistan at Lord's.
On top of his disappointing returns, Root has been given out lbw in nine of his last seven Test matches, however, he told reporters that he has "14,000 runs for a reason" and has backed himself to correct the worrying trend.
The 35-year-old is averaging just 29.44 this summer - his second-lowest average in a home season across his 14-year England career.
With 14,208 runs to his name, Root is behind only Sachin Tendulkar in the all-time standings in the Test game and is on track to surpass the India great within the next few years.
It's this experience, Root says, that will help him get through his current struggles with the bat.
"I've played this game a long time and I've always found ways of solving those problems and working it through," Root explained to the BBC.
"There's a reason why I've got 14,000 runs and a reason why I've played the best part of 15 years at this level.
"Of course it's frustrating that there's sort of a trend. There are probably four umpires' calls within that, which could have gone the other way, and the ball is probably deviating more than it ever has.
"You try and be realistic and understand where everything's at, but also be aware of what you need to do to keep improving and keep getting better. I'm pretty sure I'll get through the other side. I'm not too concerned about that."
Despite Root making just 28 in England's latest Test against Pakistan at Lord's, it didn't stop his side from handing out an emphatic 194-run victory.
Jordan Cox and Dan Lawrence both made half-centuries but it was Ollie Robinson and Jofra Archer who were the stars of the show, taking 8-35 & 5-99 in the match respectively to give England an unassailable 2-0 series lead.
Root extended his 100% record in his second spell as Test captain, four years after giving up the role after England won just one in 17 Test matches.
The third and final match of the series takes place at Edgbaston and begins on Sunday 9th September. It will be England's final Test of the summer, and their last before heading to South Africa for a three-match series in the winter.
