Jamie Vardy potential next club

Jamie Vardy is set to leave Cremonese as a free agent this summer following the club's relegation from Serie A.

The veteran striker joined the Italian outfit last summer following the expiration of his Leicester City contract and despite scoring seven goals and registering three assists in 29 appearances, it was not enough to preserve Cremonese's top-flight status.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed on X that Vardy is "ready for a new chapter" and the 39-year-old is unlikely to be short of offers, especially from England.

We take a look at where the legendary striker could venture next in the closing chapters of his storied career.

Sheffield Wednesday

Links to Sheffield Wednesday refuse to go away despite the club's relegation to League One.

Vardy is a boyhood Wednesdayite and where better to finish his career than at Hillsborough, where he has the opportunity to spear the club's new chapter under the ownership of David Storch and his US consortium.

In his Netflix documentary, Vardy spoke fondly of his early memories supporting Wednesday and returning to S6 would certainly be a fitting final chapter.

However, it remains to be seen whether Vardy would be willing to take the plunge into the third tier, especially when he might feel he has plenty to offer in a higher division.

Wrexham

Wrexham were among the clutch of clubs interested in Vardy before he decided to up sticks and move to northern Italy.

Owned by Hollywood duo Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, the club have not been afraid to spend lavishly on transfer fees and wages to acquire proven Championship talent, having brought the likes of Kieffer Moore, Josh Windass, Dom Hyam and many others through the door in the last 12 months.

Vardy's lust for the limelight makes Wrexham an interesting proposition, and the former Leicester City frontman would provide Phil Parkinson with a unique striking option compared to his current stock.

Hull City

If Vardy was looking for a route back into the Premier League then Hull City might be the answer.

Sergej Jakirovic's men defied all odds to even achieve a play-off berth, but they went three steps further by conquering Millwall over two legs before overcoming Middlesbrough in the final at Wembley.

After being under embargo in the previous two transfer windows, Tigers owner Acun Ilicali will be looking to provide Jakirovic with the tools he needs to battle relegation and a player with Vardy's goalscoring prowess could prove handy as they look to defy the odds again.
