Ivory Coast players with the most appearances in the UEFA Champions League since 1992/93

Find out which Ivorian players have made the most appearances in the UEFA Champions League since the start of the 1992/93.

Three-time winners of the Africa Cup of Nations, the Ivory Coast - also known as Cote d'Ivoire - has produced some of the greatest players ever to emerge from the continent.

Fittingly, the country's greatest-ever goalscorer also tops this list as the Ivorian with the most career appearances in the UEFA Champions League.

After moving to France as a youth, Didier Drogba bounced around several teams, ultimately making his senior debut with Le Mans before enjoying a breakthrough campaign at Guingamp that earned him a move to Marseille.

Football

It was with Les Olympiens that Drogba got his first taste of European football, as Marseille finished third in their Champions League group before transferring to the UEFA Cup and reaching the final.

Drogba's performances during the campaign led Jose Mourinho to bring him to Stamford Bridge the following year, and it was during his two spells at Chelsea that he racked up the majority of his European appearances.

He finished his career having played 92 times in the competition, with none as memorable as the 2012 final against Bayern Munich where he netted a late equaliser before holding his nerve to score the winning penalty and write his name into club folklore.

While Drogba tops the list, he is by no means the only notable name to feature.

Yaya Toure won African Football of the Year for a record four years in a row between 2011 and 2014 and 70 appearances in the UEFA Champions League are enough to edge out his brother Kolo for the silver medal here.

But who else joins them in the top ten? Read on a take a look.
