Preston North End dramatically secured their place in the second round of the EFL Cup on Saturday having beaten Huddersfield Town on penalties.
Preston played most of the tie with 10 men having seen Lewis Gibson shown a straight red card in the 21st minute before Jusef Erabi's 93rd-minute equaliser cancelled out Radinio Balker's opener.
Dan Iversen saved Huddersfield's first two penalties as Delano Burgzorg fired home the winning spot kick to send North End through.
The draw for the second round, where Premier League sides not in European competition enter, was made on Monday and pitted Preston against Everton, with David Moyes facing his former club.
Preston's first round tie was played at Everton's old home of Goodison Park owing to the Lilywhites undergoing a £1.5m hybrid pitch installation at Deepdale.
Huddersfield offered to host their tie at the Accu Stadium, but Preston opted to make the slightly shorter 36-mile trip to Merseyside, where 6,120 fans were in attendance.
Following Preston's draw with Everton, fans have speculated as to whether Everton will return to Goodison Park -- now used as the home ground for Everton Women -- as the away side.
However, Preston will return to Deepdale for their first Championship fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers on 22nd August, remaining at home for Everton's EFL Cup visit the following midweek.
