IPL Records: Most wickets in a season

The Purple Cap is awarded to the leading wicket-taker in an Indian Premier League season and many of the world's best bowlers have battled to get their hands on the prestigious accolade.

We've taken a look at the players who have taken the most wickets in a single IPL campaign.

Harshal Patel - 32

Harshal Patel accompanied Dwayne Bravo at the head of the pile for most wickets in an IPL season but claims top spot by virtue of runs conceded.

The medium pace bowler made it a debut season to remember with Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2021, claiming a total of 32 wickets in 15 innings including a five-wicket haul against the Mumbai Indians.

He did, however, also bowl the joint-most expensive over in IPL history in the same season.

Dwayne Bravo - 32

An icon of the Twenty20 format, Dwayne Bravo was in electrifying form for the Chennai Super Kings in 2013 as he chalked up 32 wickets from 18 matches.

Bravo tallied 26 dismissals in the 2015 season, a total which ranks 11th on the all-time list for most wickets in a season.

Kagiso Rabada - 30

South African fast Kagiso Rabada took the IPL by storm in the rescheduled 2020/21 season, taking 30 wickets as the Delhi Capitals finished runner-up.
