Portsmouth are close to securing the statement return of former winger Abu Kamara from Hull City, according to reports.
The 23-year-old spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Fratton Park, helping Pompey to win the League One title before heading back to his parent club Norwich.
Kamara began the new campaign as a Norwich player, even opening his Canaries account with a goal in the EFL Cup against Stevenage, however, he moved to Hull soon after the Tigers agreed a four-year deal to sign the former England U20 international.
Now, after a temporary stay in Spain with Getafe, Peter O'Rourke is reporting that Kamara is on the brink of re-signing for Portsmouth.
O'Rourke exclusively revealed: "The two clubs have now agreed on a fee for the 23-year-old winger ahead of a potential move back to Fratton Park.
"Portsmouth are close to a full agreement over the deal as they look tie up the formalities of what would be an eye-catching return to the club for Kamara."
Kamara's sole season on the South Coast was undoubtedly the most productive of his short career in the professional game, scoring 10 times and laying on a further 11 assists as Pompey topped the third tier.
The London-born winger has endured some tougher times since then, playing just 103 minutes during Hull's promotion campaign before being shipped off to Getafe where he made just one league start.
Despite his poor form since leaving Pompey, there is hope that former boss John Mousinho will help him rediscover his best. Mousinho has guided his side to two consecutive Championship seasons above the drop and Kamara could become their seventh summer signing as they look to make strides up the table.
Portsmouth are 9/2 to reach the newly-extended second tier playoff places this season.
