West Ham United kick off their 2026/27 campaign with the visit of Portsmouth in the EFL Cup first round on Saturday.

The Hammers were relegated from the Premier League last season and Nuno Espirito Santo's outfit will be aiming to make a strong start as they plot promotion from the Championship.

Portsmouth preserved their second tier status for another season by finishing 18th in the Championship last term, but John Mousinho's men have failed to progress beyond the first round of the EFL Cup in each of the last two campaigns.
