Former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso returns to Anfield on Wednesday evening, in Chelsea's dugout for their EFL Cup clash.
The Reds appear to have clicked into gear properly now after a slower start to their Premier League campaign than anticipated.
Although the Merseyside club have only lost one game all season, draws with Fulham, Nottingham Forest and Newcastle were disappointing in the eyes of the Anfield faithful.
They have won six of their last seven in all competitions now though, including a 3-1 win over Tottenham in the previous round of the EFL Cup.
Andoni Iraola's side are up to fourth in the division, one place and two points above Wednesday's visitors.
There seems to be two sides to Xabi Alonso's Chelsea.
On one hand you have a side capable of scoring for fun -- evidenced by their 6-3 victory over Leeds in the last round of the EFL Cup and their 5-1 dismantling of Bournmouth in the Premier League.
Then on the other hand there are matches where they look completely void of ideas in the final third, such as their disappointing 0-2 loss to Spurs in their most recent match, or the 3-0 loss to Brentford a month ago.
