Turki Alalshikh has dropped the biggest hint yet that Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will finally lock horns in a long-speculated domestic blockbuster.
The Gypsy King staged his return to professional boxing following a 14 month retirement on Saturday night, recording a dominant points victory over hard-hitting Russian Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The magnitude of the fight, and occasion, meant there were a plethora of celebrities and world renowned sports stars in attendance, with one in-particular standing out from the crowd.
Two-time heavyweight ruler Joshua was a clearly interested onlooker, taking ringside position, alongside long-term promoter Eddie Hearn, keeping close tabs on the condition of Fury, who was fighting for the first time since being beaten for a second time by Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024.
What made AJ's appearance in North London all the more intriguing was that Saudi Arabian boxing bank-roller Turki Alalshikh had earlier in the night teased an historic announcement regarding 'the biggest fight in British boxing history'.
But whilst no official confirmation of the long-mooted dust-up was actually made, it certainly felt as though the wheels were well back in motion towards some form of confirmation that a deal was close to being agreed.
Joshua refused to provide a direct answer to Fury's plea for him to fight him next, but speaking to Netflix shortly after, the Watford man confirmed that it was 'increasingly likely' that the Gypsy King would provide him with his next challenge.
Whilst the finer details now appear to be being ironed out, one big question on many peoples lips is just how much money each of the two fighters can expect to earn from the colossal bout?
Well Fury pocketed a reported £20 million for his clash with Makhmudov, a figure that would be dwarfed by the astronomical pay cheque he would likely receive for sharing the ring with Joshua.
It's estimated that both men, Fury and Joshua, would be rewarded by career high pay days, with around £225 million understood to be on offer for each of the fighters.
Of course, that is still to be officially confirmed, but given Joshua was paid a handsome £90 million for his fight with Jake Paul in December and Fury had previously stated that he would only agree to the bout for a fee in excess of £200 million, it makes a near £500 million fight purse plausible.
