The Jim Boyle-trained Amused remains without a win in Britain after 11 attempts, but he has been running to a strong level in defeat of late and another similar effort would give him outstanding claims in the opener at Lingfield.
Successful for Jerome Reynier over 7f at Vichy in France on very soft ground last year, he has been a little in and out for current connections, but has finished runner-up on three occasions, including the last twice over this distance at Sandown when he ran to a Racing Post Rating of 74.
He is officially rated just 70 and Donogh Murphy, who is 3-16 for this yard this season, takes off a further 5lb.
Amused has performed with credit on his two previous starts at this track, shaping like a mile would suit when a never-nearer second off this mark on his last visit in June.
14:45 Musselburgh - Needin' U @ 10/3
With five of the eight runners in this nursery race at Musselburgh making their handicap debuts, a bit of guesswork is required, but Michael and David Easterby’s Needin' U ran well over course-and-distance in June and should prove competitive off this opening mark of 64.
The daughter of Land Force looked in need of the experience when finishing down the field on her introduction at Redcar in May, but she showed bright pace prior to fading steadily into fourth in selling company at this track on her second start, running to a Racing Post Rating of 63 in the process.
She wasn’t quite as good when fifth at Beverley subsequently, but she ultimately paid the penalty for racing too freely in a first-time hood, which is removed on this occasion.
19:02 Bellewstown - Harry's Hill @ 7/2
Harry's Hill bounced back to form when running out a decisive winner at the Curragh last week and has strong claims of following up at Bellewstown.
The Martin Hassett-trained eight-year-old, who is 10-64 in his career, has an especially good record at this venue, winning on two of his three visits, most recently in this corresponding race two years ago off a mark of 78.
He races off just 73 on this occasion, despite his recent 4lb rise, and looks sure to give a good account on a track that heavily favours his prominent racing style.
